Good Parking Spaces

What is the total estimated area of all parking lots in the United States?

There are estimates of between 40,000 to 50,000 total square miles of paved surfaces, but a large portion of that is roads. Can anyone find a figure for just parking lots? Cite your source, please.

  1. Even one parking lot is too much... It was never my idea to build them.. Roads either. I could survive on paths and railroads at best... Anyone who doesn't agree is just as guilty of being as destructive as Americans.
  2. Too many problems with calculating this. What constitutes a parking lot? There aren't any figures I could find on this either. Sorry.
