Good Parking Spaces

Why are sea gulls attracted to parking lots?

The parking lots where I am located in Ohio, contain no water, so what attracts the seagulls to the parking lots? Both these answers are partially right. I will leave it up to a vote. Thank you all for answering.

  1. Seagulls are attracted to the same things all scavenger birds are food. There are usually a lot of garbage dumpsters close to parking lots because it's easier for the trucks to pick them up there. Plus people through trash out of their cars a lot of it is leftover food.
  2. Depending on where you live in Ohio, the gulls there often take mussels from either the great lakes or the Ohio River, fly above a parking lot and then let them drop. the shell is then smashed on the pavement of the parking lot and it's then easy pickings. Then they hang around after eating to digest their food.
