Do parking lots have building codes?

Specifically I live in Louisiana and I was wondering if some one could help me find the building regulations for parking lots. I'm a pretty seasoned googler but I was unable to find them. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks

  1. LOL actually they kind of do, but theyre more guidelines and safety common sense stuff
  2. You could actually stroll down to your county courthouse and find that information. If they don't have it there, it may not exist.
  3. if it's a parking garage then yes, if it's just a parking lot, then no...
  4. Have you tried calling your county office? I'm sure there are building codes, so be sure to call before you build. Good luck.
  5. Yes there is a building code for parking lots. Go to your town hall construction office and they can provide you with the code information. It should include lighting requirements, setbacks, curbing, required spaces per lot by building occupancy, etc.
  6. check building codes for Louisiana and permits in most they have lights and cooling so yes they have codes.
  7. I'd start by finding out what building code is used in whatever jurisdiction you are in. Is it National Building Code? BOCA? Other? You should be able to determine that simply by inquiring in the city or county offices, presumably at the city or county building department or "plan review" office. Ask what code is enforced there. Then get a copy of that code. You may need to purchase a copy of the code, or go to the building department offices or to a library to view a copy of it. Some building codes are quite comprehensive, and they are normally not given away without cost, nor are they often posted on the internet. Good luck.
