Good Parking Spaces

Have Any Of You Been Approached By the Men With Ether, In Store Parking Lots?

This sounds nuts, because nuts are doing it. Recently, men have been using the old 'try out this faux perfume, it's as good as the real stuff'.....line, with a different angle. (As if they were selling the faux perfumes) When the lady (usually) takes the card with the 'scent' on it....to smell the perfume's scent, she drops down from the scent of ether! Then, the men rob and whatever they please to the lady.........most likely depending upon the light and foot traffic at the time. This is happening in large store parking lots, malls, etc.. I just wondered if anyone had been subjected to this. This is not an urban legend. The lady this happened to, works at our city newspaper.

  1. No. I'll let my family and friends know. Thanks!
  2. This is an "urban legend" - a ridiculous hoax usually circulated by "chain" emails. Caring people pass it on to their friends because they believe it is true. I really don't know why anyone would want to make their friends worry about something as dumb as this nonsense. I have selected these two quotations from the source cited below: "As for the assertion that thieves are using ether to knock victims out, toxicology and forensics experts point out that ether doesn't quite work this way. To knock someone out, ether would have to be applied in a highly concentrated form (such as an ether-soaked rag)." "Any chemical potent enough to render someone unconscious through inhalation would be hazardous to the "attacker" as well as the victim, and would have to be carefully handled and skillfully applied. "
  3. Aye seems to be a hoax. There is a related one where they talk about people coming to the house with scented candles laced with ether. As the previous writer said, its just about impossible to do this. The general thing you see in movies where they come up behind you wearing a mask and put the ether in the rag at the last minute and then clamp it over your mouth and nose is what it really takes to knock someone out with ether. Otherwise, the would-be robber would be keeled over in the parking lot themselves. You cant store ether in a normal bottle or with anything plastic. The vapors would still leak out and quite strongly too.
