Good Parking Spaces

required number of handicap parking spaces for tulsa public Schools with 30 disabled childern attending.?

The handicap parking spaces have been removed from my disabled childs school in Tulsa,Okla. The prinicipal has put up a sign by the wheelchair ramp"prinicapal parking only" and will not talk about the removal with anyone including staff. The automatic door has also been turned off.

  1. It sounds to me like this Principal has developed some sort of problem related to the disabled. He's going to wind up fired, because he's clearly violating the Americans With Disabilities Act. If I were in your place, my next inquiry wound be with the District Superintendent, or the School Board itself.
  2. I agree with Jay S's opinion. The principle could be violating the American's with Disabilities Act through his actions. There are several federal and state laws which require any institution, whether public or private, to meet certain guidelines in order to accommodate those with disabilities. As Jay S's recommended, a good first step would be to contact the Tulsa School District Board of Education, assuming your school is in the Tulsa School District, that is. I have included below both a link to the Tulsa School District as well as the Oklahoma Department of Education's website which will allow you to find which school district you child's school is in. If that didn't work well, or if you would rather not deal with the school district themselves right now, there are several organizations you can contact which may be able to provide you with assistance.
