Why do Americans pull forwards into mall (90 degree) parking spaces? Backing in is way less risky!?
Everyone in Asia backs in parking spaces because of the effective reduced turning radius. It is annoying that every American wants to be macho and pulls forward into parking spaces, resulting in way more fender benders in parking lots. Why doesn't the DMV tell people to back into mall parking spaces? im not complaining. im just wondering why, cuz its so much easier to back in. if you think its easier to pull in forwards, you probably never tried backign in. also, 90 degree mall parking spaces are clearly meant to be backed in. because cars have their front wheels turning. and having to back out is still clearly more dangerous than pulling out forwards because of the bad vision. backing in is not as dangerous to pedestrians because they aren't going to be chilling in the parking spot. also, i am a us citizen and i do drive in america. no one has ever cut me off when im trying to back in a parking spot.

- Got to get the space quickly. If you drive by a prime space to back into it, someone will cut you off and grab it. They will wait for you to back out.
- I dont think it's a "macho" thing... For me, I'm afraid of backing in parking spaces and I suck at it. I don't like having to look back either. I'm a fraidy cat when it comes to doing anything dealing with driving. It's just easier for me to pull in forward.
- macho has nothing to do with it, having to back out makes people drive slower, and more aware of there surroundings, pulling out forward would let people drive faster, and remember we drive larger cars than you and also have larger parking slips besides all of the parking areas were designed to be pulled into, not backed in. so before you think we are macho or rude,we don't come to your country and complain about the way you park
