How should I report drivers who I suspect abuse the handicapped parking spots?
I've seen cars parked in handicapped spots and don't have any stickers or tags. I've also seen cars with stickers and tags in which the driver and passengers don't appear to be physically handicapped in any way, by not appearing to have any difficulties walking or moving. But I also concede the possibility that those cars may be either picking up or dropping off a person who is indeed handicapped. At some level, I agree that it might be a petty incident to call the cops about. But then, I'm not handicapped; if I were, I might not think it's so petty. vt500ascott2: As opposed to a bystander that allows the law to be flagrantly broken? trooper3316 & Susie D: I will acknowledge that handicapped tags are validly given to those who show few visible signs of disability. That was not the focus of my question. onparadisebeach: We're all on Yahoo! Answers. We all have too much time on our hands. Tai Chi just isn't for everyone I guess.

- Just mind your own business and don't be such a tattle-tale...
- Parking enforcement is usually a pretty low priority for officers, but if there is a complaint, most officers do not mind issuing handicapped tickets at all. When I do it, I usually get positive comments from passerbys. As far as looking, or not looking handicapped, lung and heart problems are common reasons to get a handicapped placard, as walking could put a strain on the body.
- No tags, no stickers - report them. People you do "think" "look" disabled - mind your own business. Not all disabilities are worn on your sleeve. My FIL was dying of heart failure and needing a heart transplant. He was on a continuous infusion of heart medication via an IV port and couldn't tolerate long walks, but was able to still drive. (Portable pump - before some smart ass says something.) He needed a handicapped sticker - but he didn't look as sick as he was because he refused to let his illness get him down. Don't judge a book by the cover.
- Are you serious? Who are you to judge who has the right to have a handicap sticker/parking permit, and who doesn't? I'm sorry, but that is petty. Very, very petty. People with those permits may not always have "visible" conditions. I'm sorry, but deal with it. It is bad Karma to doubt someone's being handi-cap or not based on the fact that they, to you, may not "fit the part." As far as those parking there with no sticker/permit, that is their own problem, they'll deal with it eventually.
- I gotta go with the flow here. Being the "parking lot police" indicates to me you've got too much time on your hands. Go take a Tai Chi class or something.
- Contact the Police, stand there, and point them out. Hopefully, your allegations are valid.
