Good Strategy Games for Families with Teens?
As a family we like to turn of the television set and play games. We can't go out and about as a family as my partner is a powerchair user and there are an awful lot of places that are unusable to someone using one - even the parking at places we can use can be a nightmare. Therefore, we have an excellent selection of board games, favourites of which are Risk, Cluedo, Monopoly, Beat The Safe, Boggle... things that you either need to think quickly or think ahead tend to be our favourites. One of our 12 year old twins really likes the games that are more fun or memory based, the other enjoys the ones that really stretch her brainpower - what would you suggest as a good game for either or both of them? What works with your family or have you enjoyed in the past?

- Chess, Go.
- I take it your kids are on the youngish side of teens..... Maybe a game called Bohnanza - kind of a card game with a bit of thinking along the way. Settlers of Catan is always fun - though maybe not for a year or two; perhaps Puerto Rico, Ticket to Ride....so many! But the link may give you some ideas too!
- Two good fun games are Apples to Apples and Taboo. Apples to Apples would be really good for your twins (I think) because it's extrememly fun and everyone is involved. Plus, with the one set of cards, there are several different ways to play. http://www.boardgames.com/aptoappabox.html Taboo would be good for your other teen because you have to think to play it. http://www.boardgames.com/taboo.html
- If you've got the time and there are at least four of you, try Diplomacy. Conquer Europe by making alliances and shifting armies and fleets to where the other players least expect it. Beware: this game has been known to end in sulks and tantrums!
