Parking for Cubs games...?
Ill be at at the Cubs game on 8-1-07. its a 7:05 start. I live in detroit and am a huge Cubs fan. Where is the best area to park when I go to the game??? I want to be able to park my car and walk around the town without worrying my car will get towed, or the lot I parked in gets closed...

- Look at the DeVry University Campus at 3300 N Campbell. They have parking there and a shuttle striaght to the Cubs game. You can call them at 929-8500 for prices..
- There are few parking lots around the field that are reasonable. One is on Addison and Freemont, just a block east of the field. I think it's $12 for the game. A lot of the businesses in the area also offer parking in their lots for a reasonable fee. Don't park on the street - they will ticket you and it will make people, like me, who live there very angry that they can't park in their own neighborhood. You will definatly be able to walk around the area right by Wrigley, and if you wanted to go anywhere else (assuming you get into the city early enough), there is a Red line El stop next to Wrigley.
- When you say "walk around the town" do you mean just the Wrigley Field area or actualy go all over Chicago? Big difference. But a little known secret (to outsiders) is that you can park for free on the street north of the ballpark, on Clark street the other side of Irving Park Rd. The streets in the actual residential areas are zoned for residential parking only but parking on Clark street is free. You have to get there at least an hour before game time... those spots go fast. But like I said, it's free, the area is safe and you can walk down the street too and from the ballpark; lots of people do. Just find a spot but be sure to check for any nearby parking regulation signs. Some sports are in tow zones, some are restricted for certain times of the day. And try not to go further north than Montrose, though. There are parking meters there and you have to feed them or you get a ticket (you won't get towed). But since its 25 cents for an hour, and the meters are free after 9 p.m., it's possible to put in two quarters and not worry about it. But remember, park on Clark street. DO NOT park in the neighborhoods. You need a permit and if you don't have one you'll be ticketed and possibly towed. I do this a lot when I visit friend at a certain bar a block away from the ballpark when the cubs are in town. But if that's not safe enough for you, there are plenty of lots around there that don't have gates and locks., But check with the owners of the lot to see how long you can stay. There's one in a hot dog stand a block north of the ballpark on Clark Street across from a music venue called The Metro, and another a block further north behind a bar called Piano Man.
- You can pay to park in peoples yards near by. It is only about $75. Cheap for how close it is.
