What is a good ratio for handicapped parking spots, say out of 100 spots at a public facility, ie library? Wondering if anyone is aware of general standards or any Federal Regs that specificlly deal with ratio of parking spots that must/should be designated for handicapped parking in a parking lot that accesses a public building, such as a school or library.
Why do you people get all the good parking spots? My Answer to this previously asked question: Mobility is something that most able-bodied people take for granted. They don't have to worry about the distance they travel or the energy that has to be expended to get from place to place. Those with limited capacities yearn for the same ease that most transient individuals have. You said you made this post on a dare. I dare you to try one of the following: 1 Try carrying full bags of groceries out of the store to your your car, 2. Even better, try maneuvering a wheel chair on ice and snow in a parking lot, 3. Try getting across a parking lot using only one leg with crutches, 4. Crossing a busy four lane intersection on crutches or blind folded with a fast walk/don't walk light. Just try one or all of these and let us know what you think.
Men are like parking spots, all the good ones are taken. True or False? Or Men are like public toilets. They are either taken or they are just full of sh*t!!?? My opinion Men are like parking spots. The good ones are hard to find, so when you persevere and finally do find one, you never take him for granted;) Or Men are like public toilets. They are either taken or they are just full of sh*t!!?? My opinion Men are like parking spots. The good ones are hard to find, so when you persevere and finally do find one, you never take him for granted;) SORRY, I didn't re-post my add details twice. I accidentally hit the submit button twice. that's why.. I know it's annoying.
A lot of people back into parking spots. Is there a good reason for this, or, do they do it just to annoy me? I was referring to regular parking spots, not parallel. It annoys me because everyone else has to wait while people do complicated Y-turns.
How many parking spots are there in Washington, DC? And how did you come up with your answer? For extra credit: How many public parking spots are there in DC? How many public parking spots are there in DC (e.g. parking garages and parking lots)? How many residential parking spots are there in DC?
Too many handicapped parking spots? Why are there so many handicapped parking spots? Like, I'm not against people who need them, but a lot of times there are spots that aren't even used when there's no more parking. The cops got mad at me for parking there once, but blind people get to use those parking spots and they don't even have anything wrong with their legs!
University Parking Spots? How bad is it to find a parking spot at your university? Are their more spots available for the morning classes or for the evening classes around 5?
parking spots? When you think of parking spots what comes to your mind? What kind of comments,opinions,problems,any... that pops into your head. Quick thinking
is it really necessary to have 20 or more handicapped parking spots at a wlamart? i know most people who shop at walmart are handicapped in one way shape or form - but they are not all physically handicapped - so why so many spots. also - if they have 25 spots for the handicapped - why do they only have 5 or six electic mobile handi-carts? shouldn't they have an equal number of electric mobile handi-carts as they do parking spaces? wouldn't it be better to just allow them a certain time of day to shop like 8pm-9pm and then open those spots to the rest of us throughout the day? Also, if their parking spots were further away it would encourage them to walk which would give them exercise which in turn would improve their health so they would no longer need to park in the handi-zones. besides most people (probably all) that use a handi-cap parking space just lie and fake it at the dmv anyway.
Who do I report a violation in the number of handicap parking spots a public elementary school has? I have contacted the principal and the board of education and nothing has been done to rectify the situation. We went from 2 handicap spots down to 1 when the school district enlarged the parking lot. It has been months since I spoke to the board office and nothing was done. Houghton Lake Community Schools, Houghton Lake, MI . They are suppose to have minimum 1 handicap spot per 25 parking spots. They have alot more than 50 parking spots right now.
can i get this car towed? what can i do to keep these cars from parking in 2 spots? i live in an area full of college students who rent apartments. therefore, we do not have full property over the parking. everyone has to park on the sidewalks and it can be very hard at times to find a spot. theres these two cars who save spots by taking up two parallel parking spots on purpose whenever one car leaves. Now, they've been doing this for months now and frankly, i'm frustrated! i'd like to scare these girls by leaving a note saying if they do this again, i'll get it towed. but is it possible to even get it towed if the cars are parked that way? i've parked right behind the 1/2 of a spot they leave at times to annoy them but it doesnt stop them from doing so. i've even thought about pushing the cars up in the right spot yet i havent had the right moment to. what can i do to really scare them? can i call the police to give them a ticket and tow it if it really gets to that point? would they even give them a ticket for that?
Can stores in a strip mall legally claim the parking spots directly in front of them for their customers only? I've seen lots of stores that mark the first couple of spots right in front of them as reserved for their customers only and threaten to tow offenders. Is that legal? Are they really renting specific parking spots as part of their lease? I always thought that if I am there shopping in the strip mall I should be able to park anywhere, especially if I am stopping at multiple stores. I know it is probably just a threat, but what are their legal rights?
What should you do? 1 car, 2 parking spots? When you there are 2 parking spots taken up by just one car--I have ideas, just curious on yours!
Do you think nicer cards should get better the better parking spots??? Before you say no, think about in my apartments they have 3 nice and wide parking spots up front, and the rest across the street and the cars are packed in. It annoys me when I have to park my nice car that is more likely to get dinged because it is parked so close to other cars when I see a beater have all this room! What do you think?? CARS!!!! opps You are all wrong, the junky car should park further away so the nice cars can park up front. not a bad idea Fred C - I like your style
My Neighbors take all the parking spots! what are my rights? I live next to 3 girls who have thier live in Boyfriend over every night they take up all the spots! I only have 1 assigned spot so when My roomate comes home, she has to park blocks away. my apt manager knows but wont do anything! what should i do? They're kind of hillbilly so I don';t want to pick a fight and have them mess with my car, okay. how can I approach my red neck apt manager and get her to do something about it? these guys never leave. there are never any unassigned ones,
They just put 10 handicapped parking spots by my park, whats with that? I mean everybody is walking running etc. the handicapped spots at the stores the people need it closer now they come to the park to walk far????? thats crazy!
Why do people fight over parking spots, when there is allways more open just a little ways down the lane? I just don't see why people have to sit and wait forever for a spot when they can go 4 spots over and park.
Knocking from under car when turning into parking spots? I bought an ’06 Malibu Maxx about a week and a half ago, and I’ve started to notice a sort of knocking sound (can sort of feel it too) from under the car when I’m doing the following: turning into a parking spot, starting to move from a complete stop, or turning corners when my foot is on the brake pedal. Thing is, it doesn’t knock every single time I do these things; it’s an intermittent issue. My husband has suggested that it may be a joint, ball bearing. I know the car has been mostly sitting on a sales lot since August so it went seven months without being driven regularly. Could that be responsible for this noise? The dealership is going to try to fix it, but I’d like an idea of what the problem could be before they tell me what it is.
I have bipolar disorder, in all fairness should I be allowed to park in handicaped parking spots? I get really bummed out when I cannot find a place to park my car? I hate having to walk any distance and I do not like being exposed to snipers. Should they let me park in the handicaped spots so I don't wig out? Eeeeeeeeeeeek, theres one now. False alarm, kid on a bike.
How should I report drivers who I suspect abuse the handicapped parking spots? I've seen cars parked in handicapped spots and don't have any stickers or tags. I've also seen cars with stickers and tags in which the driver and passengers don't appear to be physically handicapped in any way, by not appearing to have any difficulties walking or moving. But I also concede the possibility that those cars may be either picking up or dropping off a person who is indeed handicapped. At some level, I agree that it might be a petty incident to call the cops about. But then, I'm not handicapped; if I were, I might not think it's so petty. vt500ascott2: As opposed to a bystander that allows the law to be flagrantly broken? trooper3316 & Susie D: I will acknowledge that handicapped tags are validly given to those who show few visible signs of disability. That was not the focus of my question. onparadisebeach: We're all on Yahoo! Answers. We all have too much time on our hands. Tai Chi just isn't for everyone I guess.
Is this a good plan to get even with my stupid apartment neighbors who steal my car port parking spot? Whenever I leave town, or sometimes when i leave for a few hours, these rude, thoughtless jerks park their car in my assigned parking spot even after I have plastered their car with signs telling them to stop. Should I put down an exact number of nails or tacks which they won't see, but will pop their tires? I wouldn't run over them, because I would remove them before I parked there and I would know where they are. If this is a dumb idea, do you have any ideas to punish these asssholes? To Ohsacade - I have complained TWICE in writing to my landlord and they told me (like fcking cowards) to work it out with the offenders. I have taped signs on their car's windows every single time I've caught them doing this. I have NO alternative but to make them PAY.
Overweight peple using hanycapped parking spots.? I see this a lot and it annoys me. If they need use of a scooter, fine, but I see it all the time. The large woman pulls into the handycapped spot and walks into the store. No tags on her vehicle. If anything, they need to park at the far end of the lot and walk the entire distance to the store.
Something that really bugs me! Why are there "Expecting Mother " parking spots? I don't get it! We have them at our malls and some stores around here! They are going to get out of their vehicle and go walk around a whole mall or the store anyways, why do they need to park closer? Pregnant women are supposed to get their exercise anyways! I think if anyone should get a closer spot it should be mothers who already have very young children and have to take their child, stroller, often a diaper bag or etc, in with them. This really annoys me! Besides if I park in one how are they going to prove I'm not expecting? Are they going to give me a pregnancy test right then and there? Anyone else feel the same? Or if you think these should be there, please help me in understanding why! No need to be RUDE people! If she can walk in the mall and her feet don't hurt or can drive in labor...what's the point...I asked for good reasons! BTW I am in Ohio! Ohhh, I stirred up some s.h.i.t. now, show some respect, it's a simple question...no I haven't been pregnant yet, but that doesn't mean I don't understand what is going on...give me a break! I have hauled several little ones around before and it is tough...women have survived many years without the spots. I know I will not use them when I am just pregnant, because I don't agree with them, I will leave them for handicapped or mothers who are pregnant with complications and could get a temporary handicap spot! Reading some of these answers made me feel even stronger on it! Some people gave good legit answers like the weather or carrying things and I thank those of you who did and those who supported the question!
Do you think its fair that handicapped people like me get the best parking spots at the mall? I know some people get upset and there really are too many handicapped spaces at the mall because no body ever use them all even at christmas. I get mad at my mom because sometimes she goes and parks in the spot even if I'm not with her just so she can park up front. I tild her thats wrong.
any good lunch spots around the uw med center with parking? My friend has started working over there and we occassionally do lunch. It means a drive from magnolia for me. So relatively quick service is required. Not a cloth napkins and silverware kind of place. Thanks
about those wheelchair accessible parking spots............? i was told by my code enforcment friend that you may only use the stalls if the person requiring the placard actually exits the vehicle. in other words, i may not use the stall with a placard if my father (who needs it) will be staying in the car. of course it makes sense to me and i would never do that. i pointed it out to a friend in the parking lot yesterday. she became huffy as if i were trying to deride her. i was hoping to save her the ticket. she said since her boy was in the pharmacy getting her medicine, he may park in the stall and she shall wait in the car. meanwhile, an elderly couple was struggling with the wife's walker across the lot. they had accessible plates, but the stalls (4) were full. one car had no plates or placard. i'm sorry i wasn't very clear. she did indeed posess a placard, but she was only waiting in the car. if she rides along while her son does errands, they can use the disabled spots. also, i forgot to add my question, is there a law that prohibits this? i cannot find it and the ada site is so involved and distracting (like my three year old here)
Why are fat people allowed to park in the disabled parking spots? I live in a town where there are alot of obese people that all seem to have stickers for disabled parking. I think if you don't take care of yourself physically, the healthy people that chose to take care of themselves should not have to pay higher insurance, loss of parking spaces (believe me this town has alot of disabled spaces) etc. Any thoughts I am in the healthcare profession, and things like diabetes, heart problems, high blood pressure, and on and on and on are directly related to obesity. Through proper diet and excercise you can get rid of soooo many diseases. If I send all the fat people to an island with just fruits and veggies, trust me, they would ALL lose weight. People fail there themselves
Do people who take up 2 parking spots deserve fines or worse? Ok when I see a vehicle parking like an a-hole I get pissed off! How bout you?
Does anyone have a list of secret free parking spots in DC, such as between 2-hr limit signs and the corner? I've discovered a few of these in different places. The 2-hr parking this way --> sign is set back from the corner of the street, usually just enough to allow one car to park there all day without getting a ticket. They're rare and you usually have to be early to catch them, but they're there. I'm looking for a list of such that people have discovered around the city.
Women are like parking spots!? All the good ones are taken and rest are handicapped! no disrespect just a joke!
How are men and parking spots alike? The good ones are always taken and the ones that are left are handicapped star if funny
Why does Home Depot have so many handicapped parking spots? A question that begs asking. I'm not against handicapped spots or anything but 15 is kind of crazy.
What is the Tennessee state law on requirements for where handicap parking spots are required? Example: Does the employee parking for a manufactoring facility require handicap parking since its seperate from visitor parking?
Do you agree that Pregnant women should have parking spots akin to Wheelchair accessible patrons? I know that in several areas in North America that Pregnant Women, and Mothers with young Children have the rights for more accessible parking.
Have you noticed that men & parking spots are alike..? .. 'all the good one's have been taken & the free ones are mostly handicapped or extremely small'
Do you think prisonment for parking in a disabled bay is a good idea? I had a long drive back home yesterday and was listening yo a debate about people parking in disabled bays and there was suggestions that offenders should be put in prison, how scary is it becoming to live in this country? I totaly agree that it is awful that people do this and that they should be punished but ..prison.When I came out of hospital after a serious op a few years ago my daughter would use the disabled parking spot so she could get me into the wheel chair so I could shop, The sad thing with these laws is it is usualy the wrong one who get punished. Oh if only we could all be nice to each other and common sense rule.
Disabled Parking Spots Abused? Right, is it just me or do a lot of people with £20k+ cars, like BMWs, Mercs and 4x4s plop down on a disabled car space with no Disbabled permit on their front screen? If you agree, how do you combat the fraud? My gf's gran is heavily disabled from a stroke and trying to find a spot to ease her mobility due to these f*ckwits, makes things very tricky. Is the type of car that someone drives directly associated with assholeness?
How many parking spots could fit on a lot of 18K sq/ft? What if I added a lot of 8625? Is there a formula for this? Sorry, you need access to these spots, so one has to include the access way as well as what area a handicap space needs
