Good Parking Lots Knowledge Base
What if all parking lots were parks and parking was underground? I took the San Diego trolley to the end of the line to a new mall in Santee, California. This is a very nice new mall with acres of parking lots. Wouldn’t it be a better city plan to have designed the parking under the stores and have a tranquil park environment between shops? Think of the difference this would make. I get to thinking of how much our culture is based on driving there and shopping... Shopping is good and getting there is fun too, but I just want there to be more of a balance of asphalt to nature. We would be more peaceful if we had more trees and plants among us. What do you think? I want the city planners of today and tomorow to think like this. So many "Debbie Downers"...
safe parking lots in downtown LA? I am trying to drive up to LA to pick up my friends at union station, but I want to park my car while I am sight-seeing. I am not familiar with LA + I am not a good driver, so I want to park where it's safe and easy to find. I heard union station has parking lots - are they safe? Does anybody know?

Have Any Of You Been Approached By the Men With Ether, In Store Parking Lots? This sounds nuts, because nuts are doing it. Recently, men have been using the old 'try out this faux perfume, it's as good as the real stuff'.....line, with a different angle. (As if they were selling the faux perfumes) When the lady (usually) takes the card with the 'scent' on it....to smell the perfume's scent, she drops down from the scent of ether! Then, the men rob and whatever they please to the lady.........most likely depending upon the light and foot traffic at the time. This is happening in large store parking lots, malls, etc.. I just wondered if anyone had been subjected to this. This is not an urban legend. The lady this happened to, works at our city newspaper.
Drifting in parking lots? If you are drifting in a parking lot, or just tearing up pavement, what kind of trouble can you get in? Say I'm drifting in a parking lot owned by a business, and the cops catch me, what can happen? Do they have to contact the business owner and see if they want to press charges or what? And what about abandoned parking lots? Give 'er hell? City owned parking lots? like Public Parking? PS if anyone knows any places in Southern Oklahoma/Northern Texas, that would be great, I live just under 2 hours north of Dallas TX.
Parking lots poll? Why is it in tight parking lots I see cars driving around for 20 minutes trying to find an ultraclose spot when they could park far away, walk to their destination, and be there in 5 or 10? Not only that they would be saving gas. Btw, why park ultra close in tight parking when you risk bumping another car, having your car bumped, or scratching another car with your door when you get out??? Parking far away lets you not have to worry about bumping a car or scratching another car. Can someone explain this to me? And also I want to know whether you like to park close or far away. For me, it's far away. I just don't understand why some people MUST get the closest spot.
The parking lots with one way lane question? A lot of parking lots now a days have only one way to get into a parking spot. The parking spots are on an angle. What do you do when YOU are going the right way, and someone else in a car is coming in the wrong direction and REFUSES to move over or back up? Mind you, some of these isle's are narrow and can only fit one vehicle down the lane.
Does metro parking lots have multi day parking? We want park our car in metro parking lot for 1week as we need to fly to a diff state. And we would like to pick up the car when we fly back. Is it allowed in metro? Are there any specific lots for multiday parking in metro?
Why do people speed through parking lots??? I get so annoyed with people who speed through parking lots. I lived in Florida for a few years and people there were notorious for speeding through parking lots. Its almost like they are trying to run someone over. I always slow down to allow people to walk across the parking lot. I think its rude not to. I would rather slow down than to risk running someone over. Why do people think they have to drive like a maniac through a parking lot?
parking lots...? does anyone know of any available parking lots for lease or sale? where can i find these leads? prefereably downtown Denver, Colorado but actually anywhere in colorado
Why do seagulls hang around parking lots? Whenever I go to a mall or shopping center with a large parking lot, I always see seagulls. I live in Orlando, which isn't too far from the ocean. But why would SEAgulls prefer a parking lot to an ocean? Overpopulation? More food sources in parking lots?
parking lots? what are the yellow things called that you stop your car in front of in parking lots? they are almost like speed bumps, but do they have a specific name? i need a picture of one.
Do parking lots have building codes? Specifically I live in Louisiana and I was wondering if some one could help me find the building regulations for parking lots. I'm a pretty seasoned googler but I was unable to find them. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks
Why do people back into their parking space in parking lots? In my apartment complex, about one in every 15 or 20 vehicles has been backed into its parking space. Sometimes people hold up traffic in parking lots just so they can "back in." Is this because they think they are going to leave in a hurry and every .5 seconds counts? Is it because they are afraid they are going to hit someone if they back out? That wouldn't make sense though, because there isn't much traffic in my apartment complex parking lot. The fact is, it takes more time to back in than it does to back out. So the overall parking/leaving time of someone who backs into their space increases significantly. Do people just like to see the front of their car in all its glory?
Why do people drive like maniacs in parking lots? I almost saw some guy in a truck the size of my HOUSE run down an elderly woman yesterday in a Target parking lot. Not the first time I've noticed crazy parking lot driving either, not by a long shot! So what's the deal? Why do so many people drive so fast and recklessly in parking lots???
Ohio, Columbus Convention Center Parking lots, What are the daily rates? Any cheaper? Ohio, Columbus Convention Center Parking lots, What are the daily rates? Any cheaper?Columbus Convention Center - I'll be there next week and see on the web that there are several lots and garages to choose from but none have rates posted (that I can find). I'm hoping to find the best price and while I want to be close I'm willing to walk a block or two if the price is better.
I see a lot of empty wal-mart and k-mart parking lots.? How do I gain access to the parking lots in order to make a closed course for pocket bike riding? Will it be possible to just lease the parking lots? Wait! sorry. Let me be more clear. There are a lot of Closed Down Wal-Marts and K-Marts. I would like to use the abandoned space and use the parking lots for a bike riding course. How would I go about leasing the Parking lot since I have no interest in the abondonded building?
Have you noticed that people drive randomly in parking lots - not following lines, making bee-lines, etc? It's unbelievable how horribly and selfishly people drive in parking lots lately (over the last year or so i think). I'm mainly talking about fairly large parking lots in big stores and shopping centers. People just make a bee-line for where they want to go, ignore the painted lines, ignore common sense and courtesy. They also just pull forward in a double row parking spot, without regard to someone who may be about to park properly in that spot. Why do these selfish, thoughtless jerks do this?

Why are sea gulls attracted to parking lots? The parking lots where I am located in Ohio, contain no water, so what attracts the seagulls to the parking lots? Both these answers are partially right. I will leave it up to a vote. Thank you all for answering.
Why do people leave their car doors open in parking lots? I know this sounds like a complaint, but really, I've seen it so much that I just want a sensible explanation. I live in So. Cal. Increasingly, I've been seeing people sitting in their parked cars (in parking lots) with one or more doors wide open. Usually, there are no cars parked next to them, and it seems as if they're trying to discourage other people from parking next to them. It seems odd to me that somebody would sit in his or her car solely to prevent somebody else from parking next to them, but I have noticed something about human nature, and that's the desire to deny space to others. So that's my best theory. Someobdy once suggested that it was because of hot weather, but it's February, and I still see it all over the place. This morning, outside of Starbucks, a woman left her SUV unattended with both the driver and passenger side doors open. It wasn't as if she forgot to close them, either, because I saw her looking out the window periodically to check. Any Ideas?
Why do Sea Gulls fly around parking lots? I live in the Midwest and there isn't an ocean near me. But when I am in big, open, outside parking lots, there seems to be a bunch of sea gulls flying around. How do they get there and why do they stick around? Do they think the reflection from the cars looks like the ocean or something? I know they are looking for food, but how did they get there in the first place if I'm no where near a major body of water?
In Indiana, what are the laws regarding pedestrian right of way in parking lots? Last week I was struck by a vehicle while walking to my own in a mall parking lot. Besides some minor bruising and swelling, and a lot of soreness, I am OK. Her insurance company agent made the statement that "both of you were at fault". I didn't like that, now I want to determine who was at fault. My understanding is that pedestrians have the right of way in ALL parking lots, and it is the motorists responsibility to yeild for them at ALL times. But if anyone has specific laws or regulations they can site, I would appreciate it. Many thanks. Her insurance company is State Auto and is offering to pay for all medical expenses and an additional $100 for my suffering. I already told him that $100 was an insult.
Do americans get depressed when spending time in parking lots and mall areas? Hi, every time I`m in the States and hire a care and I aproach a mall -area I get a creepy depressing feeling surrended by malls, parking lots and traffic lights. I have named it "mall drepression". I live in Europe and jused to shop in town centers only. All dough the malls are being built over here to, but not in the same scale!
Why do guys pee on on the sides of streets and in parking lots like animals? I'm not calling men animals, but i'm always seeing guys peeing in parking lots and on the sides of building and whatnot like they're dogs being taken out for a walk. Cant guys just hold it until they make it to a bathroom? I think that's the most disgusting thing ever, to get out of your car in a parking lot and see someone's pee, or worse, seeing them do it. what's up with that, guys? ~health_freak.com
Why do commercial charter buses keep their engines running for hours in parking lots? I've noticed that charter buses keep their engines running for up to an entire day while their groups are out doing things. I work at an aquarium, and I've witnessed a bus sit, running, in the parking lot from 6:45am when the group checked in until after 6pm when the group left. As someone who is conscious about carbon emissions, it irks me to have a bus spewing diesel in our own parking lot! Is there a good excuse to keep the engine running or is it simply that the driver wants the air-conditioning on? One thing that I'll add is that groups who are housed at the aquarium for extended periods of time (several days) always give a room to the bus driver. Therefore, the driver doesn't have to sit in the bus if he or she doesn't want to. In addition, drivers are welcome to accompany groups into the aquarium free of charge.
